Go Jack Cafferty!!!

I used to respect McCain until he picked this frightening woman for his running mate. What is he thinking really? I cannot wait until Thursday debate between Biden and Palin. Oh boy that is going to be really interesting!

Did you all see this video clip on CNN the other day? It was Jack Cafferty commenting on the Katie Couric interview with Sarah Palin. I have never ever seen a newscaster such as Jack Cafferty speak so strongly about a politician's qualifications before. IT WAS SO REFRESHING! Now I know that news reporters are supposed to be un-biased when reporting the news, but when there is such an obvious ploy by the Republicans to pull in some of Hillary's voters, I can see why people even journalists are out right mad at McCain for not taking the VP choice more seriously.

Oh, please please Obama, please win Nov. 4th!!

I See You!

Even though the cats want nothing to do with each other, they sure are curious of one another. When Dante is in "time out", Yaffa looks for him under the door. And then they play, "swat time", which is they swat at each other's toes from under the door. They do this at all times of the day, and since Dante sleeps in the room by himself, I catch them playing this game at 5am as well. Which wakes us all up, since the door is right next to our bed.

Dante has not calmed down much since we got him. He bites a lot and it's not the "play" biting all the time, it's the bite down hard with teeth biting. It's really frustrating. We hope he calms down soon, I hope this is not the way he'll behave forever.

Such an Angry Kitty

We are still trying to figure out why Dante is such an angry kitty. Everyday now, he does his biteys. Even when unprovoked, he just runs right up to you and "teeth". I keep wondering if his previous owner just treated him like the pits and this is why he's like this. We know Dante's brother, and he's nice, so I can only assume that this is learned behavior. We still can't take the leash off him when he's in the same room as the other cats, because he just wants to really beat them up. He races after them and wants to pounce all over them. He's like a terror tornado! Poor Sebastian, can't stand to be near him because he is so mean. In this photo, he's giving me the stink eye. Dante, please calm down soon!

Stay Back

Yaffa was just sitting on the red chair relaxing when she saw little Dante and then her demeanor changed. Her ears shifted down and she got this sour puss look on her. She also started to growl, in a low menacing growl to warn Dante to back off.

I'm sorry these photos are so horrible, it was taken on my cellphone which was the only camera that I had near me at the time.

Why Am I on a Leash?

The first time we had Dante in the same room as the other cats, he ran up to Sebastian and bit him on the back. And jumped on his back. He was pretty aggressive towards both Sebastian and Yaffa, he just wants to jump them whenever he sees them. So I've resorted to putting him on a leash, so I can control how much interaction they get without beating each other up. Everyday, they get to see each other and be in the same room, but for now, only with a leash. In this photo, here he is doing the steer down, I want to pounce you. Dante is not ready to be in the room alone with them. He is just too aggressive. When he bit Sebastian, he took a chunk of his fur off with his teeth and scared both Sebastian and myself. So I am hoping he learns to be near them without wanting to hurt them. It's been almost 3 weeks, and its been a slow process. I hope next week, I can show you all pictures of them in the same room with no leash.

How cute, but oh so naughty

Poor little Dante, today he has come home from the vet. He had his hoohaa operation. He's resting now. Look how cute his face is. I keep thinking, how could something sooo cute be so naughty! He loves to do his biteys, where he lets you pet him, then big teeth and bitey! Wham, a pouncy strategy. Play nice, then I bite you. We are teaching him not to bite, but it's a very slow process. The vet gave us some medicines for him to take for the next few days, and his stitches are the kind that dissolve on their own which is great. More updates to come.

Kitty loooooooves towels!!

Little Sebastian Kitty is so funny. Whenever we take showers, and leave towels around on our rush to get ready for work, Sebastian kitty takes this opportunity to pounce on the towel! He loves to sleep on them! I was frantically getting ready for work last week, when I left the towel on the couch as I went to blow dry my hair. When I came back to retrieve the towel, look what I found?? He was so cute cuddling the towel that I just left it there for him. When I came home from work, the towel went into the hamper, because there was fur all over. Funny kitty!!

Do you know what's all over the floor?

Can you tell what is splattered all over the living room floor? Look closely? Cats love it. I woke up this morning to find quite a mess all over the living room floor and couch. Apparently, the cats found the catnip and went to town on it. Oh boy, they must've had the time of their lives last night because the catnip was EVERYWHERE.

Note to self, put catnip inside the cupboard from now on.

Something you don't see everyday.

This sign on my street corner stopped me dead in my tracks. A lost ferret? That's something you don't see everyday. I wonder how this ferret became lost. Maybe he ran away and snuck out a window. Poor little guy. I hope someone finds him soon, and doesn't think he's a subway rat. The streets of Brooklyn is no place for a cute ferret.

Time for a nap!

Both Yaffa and Sebastian have been pretty much on edge ever since we brought home Dante. Dante went to the vet yesterday, and we are still waiting to hear back from the doctor about the various test results they did on him. They drew blood, and they gave him a bunch of vaccine shots. Dante still also needs to get neutered as well. The doctor said that she didn't want to do this procedure until after he has had two rounds of shots! Has anyone heard of this before? Two rounds of shots seems overly cautious to me, especially since he's not a stray but has been a house cat since birth. I'm hoping that once he gets fixed, he will calm down a bit. Right now, he's very energetic and wants to literally jump and attack Yaffa and Sebastian everytime he sees them. I've never seen anything like it. He runs right up to them and goes into attack mode. However, we intervene him by picking up before he can fully charge at the other two cats. Also, they are not allowed to come close to one another until we find out his test results and until after he finishes his de-wormer medicine. The doctor says he probably does not have worms, but we don't want to take any chances. So he's on medication right now to kill any just in case. Finally, yesterday, Sebastian was able to relax and take a nap on the couch. Lately, with the new kitty, he's been really on alert, in case he gets a pounce from Dante. Poor Sebastian, hopefully the new cat will calm down and get along with all of them soon.

New Kitty Blogs

I am really starting to like the name Dante. It is growing on me. I've been testing that name out and calling him Dante, and I think it totally fits.

Little meezer likes to jump on the laptop when I'm blogging. It's so cute. It's like he wants to write something too. I bet he has a lot to say!

Meezers New Favorite Treat

It didn't take long for the new Meezer to find out what everyone's favorite treat is in this house. What is in this stuff anyway? It's like kitty magnets! He was too scared to even want treats the first couple of days, but now its day 6, and he says, "Treats? Yum, I'll help myself."

We are still trying to come up with a name for him. I kinda like the name Dante because this little kitty is a bit devilish. What do you think we should call him? Any ideas????

New Kitty is a Biter

So, its been 5 days now with the new Kitty and we have discovered that he is a biter. He likes to run up to you and bite you in the ankles and the arm. Ouch! For a little thing, he's quite an aggressive cat. I'm not sure if its because his previous owner did not treat him well. Or if he's still scared in this new environment. Its just a bit scary to come into a room, and then all of the sudden a kitty is latched to your leg. Not only dangerous to us, a danger to the other cats in the house. He keeps wanting to pounce on the other cats. Whenever he sees the cats, he pants, meows loudly and gets into attack / pounce mode.

Have any of you ever experienced this biting behavior? What is the best way to handle it?

We've never had a Meezer before. Some things we learned quickly.

1. Meezers are loud talkers.
2. Meezers are good climbers.
3. Meezers are affectionate cats.
4. Meezers are really curious cats.
5. Meezers are really really loud talkers.

Thank you everyone for giving us such great advice in our last post! We know we have a long journey ahead of us with trying to get the kitties to get along. Hopefully sooner than later!

A New Member

We have rescued a meezer kitty from a home that could not keep him anymore. He is a sweet little kitty, a bit malnourished when we got him. We are feeding him well and give him lots of love. The only problem is, bringing a new cat into the mix has definitely made Yaffa and Sebastian a bit nervous. Currently, we have the new cat confined to separate room while he gets used to his new environment and our cats get used to his scent. When we first brought him home, Yaffa kept hissing at him while he was in the cat carrier. So we kept him in his own room. However, they both meow at each other like they want to see each other, but the minute they do, they hiss and want to charge each other.

Do any of you have any advice on how we can introduce the cats to each other?
