Getting fixed

We are still trying to figure out why Dante is such an angry kitty. Everyday now, he does his biteys. Even when unprovoked, he just runs right up to you and "teeth". I keep wondering if his previous owner just treated him like the pits and this is why he's like this. We know Dante's brother, and he's nice, so I can only assume that this is learned behavior. We still can't take the leash off him when he's in the same room as the other cats, because he just wants to really beat them up. He races after them and wants to pounce all over them. He's like a terror tornado! Poor Sebastian, can't stand to be near him because he is so mean. In this photo, he's giving me the stink eye. Dante, please calm down soon!
Yaffa was just sitting on the red chair relaxing when she saw little Dante and then her demeanor changed. Her ears shifted down and she got this sour puss look on her. She also started to growl, in a low menacing growl to warn Dante to back off.

Poor little Dante, today he has come home from the vet. He had his hoohaa operation. He's resting now. Look how cute his face is. I keep thinking, how could something sooo cute be so naughty! He loves to do his biteys, where he lets you pet him, then big teeth and bitey! Wham, a pouncy strategy. Play nice, then I bite you. We are teaching him not to bite, but it's a very slow process. The vet gave us some medicines for him to take for the next few days, and his stitches are the kind that dissolve on their own which is great. More updates to come.

Can you tell what is splattered all over the living room floor? Look closely? Cats love it. I woke up this morning to find quite a mess all over the living room floor and couch. Apparently, the cats found the catnip and went to town on it. Oh boy, they must've had the time of their lives last night because the catnip was EVERYWHERE.
This sign on my street corner stopped me dead in my tracks. A lost ferret? That's something you don't see everyday. I wonder how this ferret became lost. Maybe he ran away and snuck out a window. Poor little guy. I hope someone finds him soon, and doesn't think he's a subway rat. The streets of Brooklyn is no place for a cute ferret.

Both Yaffa and Sebastian have been pretty much on edge ever since we brought home Dante. Dante went to the vet yesterday, and we are still waiting to hear back from the doctor about the various test results they did on him. They drew blood, and they gave him a bunch of vaccine shots. Dante still also needs to get neutered as well. The doctor said that she didn't want to do this procedure until after he has had two rounds of shots! Has anyone heard of this before? Two rounds of shots seems overly cautious to me, especially since he's not a stray but has been a house cat since birth. I'm hoping that once he gets fixed, he will calm down a bit. Right now, he's very energetic and wants to literally jump and attack Yaffa and Sebastian everytime he sees them. I've never seen anything like it. He runs right up to them and goes into attack mode. However, we intervene him by picking up before he can fully charge at the other two cats. Also, they are not allowed to come close to one another until we find out his test results and until after he finishes his de-wormer medicine. The doctor says he probably does not have worms, but we don't want to take any chances. So he's on medication right now to kill any just in case. Finally, yesterday, Sebastian was able to relax and take a nap on the couch. Lately, with the new kitty, he's been really on alert, in case he gets a pounce from Dante. Poor Sebastian, hopefully the new cat will calm down and get along with all of them soon.

It didn't take long for the new Meezer to find out what everyone's favorite treat is in this house. What is in this stuff anyway? It's like kitty magnets! He was too scared to even want treats the first couple of days, but now its day 6, and he says, "Treats? Yum, I'll help myself."
