So, this weekend we noticed that the automatic Littermaid was not working. See photo above, which is our littermaid box. We thought at first it was because there was litter stuck in the tracks. So we cleaned it out, removed all the litter, plugged it back in, and.... IT IS BROKEN! Panic started to creep in because the Littermaid is the best invention known to man, as far as we are concerned. With 2 Kitties, it's nice to have a little help with cleaning / scooping the litter like the way the automatic Littermaid does. If you haven't witnessed this in person, see a video here of how it works. I'll have to start saving money to invest in a new one. :(
In a previous home with two cats, we had a lot of trouble with the littermaid. It was really messy, would get stuck constantly, and eventually broke down. Of course, this was in 2002, one would hope it would improve over time.
That's not good. We don't have that kinda maid ... Ours is known as "Mom" an' she has the rocking-back-an'-forth kind of litterboxes fer us. We like the rocking kind a whole lot. They don't break down. Sparky Fuzzypants
The littermaid is indeed a great invention. Unfortunately, we had to many problems with ours so we got rid of it. First the noise made by the machine scared the kitties, then poo would get all stuck in the brush and it would quite working. Eventually momma bean found herself spending more time cleaning the brushie thing, then if she where to scoop our boxes herself.
Momma's model like Catsynth's was much older. Have they improved with time?
Sorry to hear you are having problems with the Littermaid. Our mom can't wait to move back to Canada, where she can have one of those. But for now, she just scoops our litterbox.
Sorry to hear about your problem! Actually, every single person our humans know who owned a Litter Maid said it repeatedly broke on them (even after buying another one!), so we never got any. (-_-)
Our Litter Maid is a "Litter Butler" - our Dad! He faithfully scoops out the litter 3x a day. Woah!
We had a littermaid once, and it didn't last very long-it broke down pretty quickly after we bought it-which was a total bummer. The Staff was really countin' on it to ease the daily cleanup routine!
ack! i have to rely on my beans. mommy is very good, but daddy, not so much. how awful that your automatic one is broken and you have to rely on your beans! i hope the green papers get saved up fast!

You are very brave. I think that thing is too noisy and I would be scairt of it. I just have a plain old box.
Wow, and I thought our PM was the littermaid.

Wow! We prefer a classic litterbox. This litterbox do not scare you?
Thanks for your comment!
Very interesting video. We're a multiple cat household, but Jan doesn't need an electric box cleaner. She LOVES to scoop litter.
What, Merci?
Oh,we felines thought Jan enjoyed it. Merci says no, but she's a dog, so how would she know?
