I came across this remarkable video today. A story about a 10-year-old who just graduated college and became a veterinarian. Talk about a child prodigy. That is just amazing!
It is an interesting story. However, it seems to have been exaggerated. Some sites have stated that she holds a "college degree" and is a "veterinarian". Neither of these claims is true. She does NOT hold a College Degree. She, in fact, holds a certificate as a veterinary assistant/technician. This bears the same kind of relationship to a fully fledged veterinarian that a bookkeeper or clerk does to a professional accountant - a very different level of challenge.
However, she is a smart young girl and I wish her well. Yet, it is a pity that someone along the way - perhaps her parents or maybe the media - have overstated the situation. That makes it hard for other children whose achievements may, in fact, be much greater at her age.
I hope she does continue her studies and actually becomes a true veterinarian in due course. Then she would have really achieved what has already been claimed.
