Little Yaffa Kitty really loves her kids. She thinks Kyle is one of her kittens. Whenever we are sitting on the couch watching some tv, she comes by and starts licking Kyle's fuzzy head. Kyle's hair is buzzed really short and I guess she thinks he's a kitty too. It's the funniest thing. She's actually grooming him like she grooms Sebastian. She sometimes comes over to my head and tries to lick it too. But I have really long hair, so she usually ends up biting my head rather than licking it clean. Oh Yaffa, she's so affectionate!
For a cat, Sebastian strangely loves water. He's not scared of it at all. And he doesn't mind getting wet. Whenever he hears the bathroom faucet or tub turn on, he races into the bathroom to watch the water stream down. Then he takes his paw and swats at it. Usually he does this for a few minutes. And plays with the water coming out of the faucet. But recently, he's learned to drink right from the faucet. He loves his new trick, he gets much enjoyment out of it, as do we. Now, if I can only teach him how to go potty in the toilet. Now, that would be impressive!
I caught Barney hanging out on top of the cable box when he thought I wasn't looking. I think he likes the warmth of the box after the tv has been on for awhile. .
From time to time, when my friends are away, I help them out and pet sit. Here's Barney and Dweezil giving each other kisses. They are such sweet Siamese cats. Very affectionate and friendly. Dweezil, the cat on the right, used to be very shy around me. She wouldn't dare to come out from her hiding spot to greet me. But now, she's opened up and is a lot friendlier. She even lets me pet her on the head.
I was sitting on the couch yesterday, and I heard some loud snoring. I turn around, and Miles is fast asleep on his favorite cushion on the couch. He is so adorable when he's asleep. He snores pretty loud. Like a human being. It's funny.
My roommate's cats Lefty and Miles loves to sit on the couch and soak in the sun. On this especially sunny day, they were really enjoying the warmth of the sun.
Sebastian has gone through about 1/2 of the new toys he got for Christmas. Kyle gives him a few toys at a time, and after he destroys them, they get discarded and new toys come out. Sebastian is thoroughly enjoying the new red mouse. He flings that poor mousey clear across the room. And gnaws at it with his little teeth. You should have seen the other mouse toy he had. We had to lay it to rest because the cotton inside was spilling out. I love watching Sebastian attack his mousey, he is such a playful kitten.
Yaffa's favorite sitting spot is perched on top of the futon. She loves sitting there. Sometimes we find her straddling the couch with her feet dangling on either side. Sebastian being always the follower, sits up there too now. This picture was taken right before they were taken to the vet to get... snip, snip. Both kitty and mommy are doing well. Yaffa has to get her stitches out in 2 weeks.
I received a nice email from the lady who adopted Sebastian's sisters. I wrote to her last week to say Hi and to see how the little girl kitties were doing. She wrote back to say that they were very healthy and happy. I'm so glad! It was really hard for us to give away the kitties, but with a litter of 4, we couldn't possibly keep them all. Especially living in a studio apartment. When Kyle found Yaffa on the streets of Brooklyn, we had no idea she was pregnant. She looked like a young kitty herself. I am so thrilled and happy that we found good homes for Sebastian's siblings. I have to say, I do miss them terribly. I wish we could have kept the entire family. But, they live in Brooklyn, so maybe perhaps one day, the siblings can see each other again.
This is Miles. He's my roommate's cat. He's about the coolest cat around, thus his name, Miles, as in Miles Davis. Miles acts more like a person than he does a cat. He talks to us all the time when he wants something. Meow, meow. He has 3 favorite things that he loves to do. Lie on his back so his stomache is exposed, eat tunafish straight from the can, and tease his sister Lefty. He also has this crazy foot fetish. He loves ram his head against people's feet. Here I caught him lounging on the couch.
The cats have found a new fun thing to do. The city got blasted with over 26 inches of snow and little kitties are having a fun time staring out the window. What is that cold white thing? They especially like to stare out the window when the cars pass by. I think they like the lights reflecting off the wet pavement. I love this picture of Sebastian jumping off the window sill, like he just finished doing something really suspicious.
So I got Yaffa and Sebastian a new toy for Valentine's day. It's this frog prince stuffed animal. At first they just stared at it, with amusement. They weren't interested at all of the new toy.
I came home one evening to find Lefty, my roommate's cat, perched high on top of the refridgerator. I wonder where else the cats roam when we aren't home.
Sebastian is such a curious cat. We came home from a skiing weekend, and had a large shopping bag on the floor. Little Sebastian jumped right in to rest. He was just hanging out in the bag. I think he enjoyed it because my snow pants were inside. Soft cushion to sit on. He absolutely loves bags, every chance he gets, he jumps in them and hangs out.
Yaffa is so adorable. She loves to stick out her tongue. It really is quite cute. It's like she's sticking out her tongue to say, nah nah. Everytime we see her doing it, we smile. She looks so funny. Like, she's a little bratty kid.
