We (heart) Trader Joe's

I was unpacking groceries one day, and Mr. Sebastian Kitty thought it was fun to jump in the Trader Joe's bag to hang out. Not sure why he liked it in there. You can see Yaffa mommy, sitting on the chair on the top left looking down at him to see what he was up to. He sat in that bag for a good 15 minutes, and didn't seem to want to get out. Then he grew bored, and jumped out of the bag. I guess he likes Trader Joe's just as much as we do.

Lap Cat

Yaffa has come a long way from the days she roamed the streets of Brooklyn. When Kyle rescued her, the first month that she was living in the apartment, she was extremely skiddish and hid pretty much the entire time under the futon. She didn't liked to be pet nor picked up. I was surprised that Kyle was even able to pick her up from the street and carried her all the way to the 6th floor, where he used to live. But look at her now, in the year and a 1/2 that we've had her, she has become quite the house cat. From time to time, she still gets skiddish when she wants to be, but more often than not, she is found either sitting on Kyle's lap, or resting quietly next to us.

What's Out There?

We recently put a new birdfeeder outside the window and every since Sebastian has been having the time of his life jumping on the window sill and trying to scare away the pigeons, squirrels, and finches. He can sit there all day, and he scratches on the window begging us to let him out. Being that we live on the 3rd floor, that is not a possibility. He always gives us this face that says, come on, please let me go out and play!

Yaffa Checking Out Her Roommates

Here are some photos of Yaffa checking out the other members of our household. She especially likes to sit on the window sill and watch the tank. Sometimes, I catch her trying to pet her aquatic friends, as she swats the glass. She also gets a kick out of the ball. Little Tony, the hamster loves walking around and exploring, and doesn't fear Yaffa or Sebastian. Thank goodness for plastic!

Cat Hugs

The cats never fails to amaze me, how cute they are. Little kitty Sebastian, just loves cuddling with mommy Yaffa cat. He even wraps his arms around her, like they are hugging. They do this quite often when they think we humans aren't watching. They are such an affectionate pair.

Cats like their Xmas present!

The cats received this Christmas present from my brother. Since the cats are so playful, this is perfect for them. However, the only one that has taken a liking to it is Yaffa. Sebastian has yet to catch on. We put a soft towel inside, and some toys, I'm sure Sebastian will be investigating it soon enough.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

We're sorry for not posting during the holidays, we were away visiting family. However, we are back, and wanted to post some photos from Christmas. Guess who just loves hanging out underneath the Christmas tree? He loves to nap there, and drink the water out of the tree stand. That must be some tasty water, since Sebastian's water bowl has fresh water! One day, we also caught him chewing on the branches! He must like the pine smell. Oh, and his favorite game, swatting the ornaments off the tree! We are going to have to take the tree down soon, I dred doing that because the cats will miss it!

100th Posting: Secret Paws Winter 06 Photos

Oh my goodness, were we excited when we received our Secret Paws package! As soon as I put the package on the floor, the cats raced over to investigate. They helped us open the box, and inside was a fantastic treat!

Thank you Max for an amazing package of goodies! Sebastian and Yaffa especially loved the furry mice. And the catnip. Boy, did they have fun! We loved that all the toys were mice! A whole family of different kinds of mice. It was really amazing. Yaffa also liked the tissue paper. She had fun playing with that also.

Thanks again Max! You really went all out, and was so creative with all the pretty tissue packaging and the well thought out mice toys.

The cats couldn't decide which toy to play with, since all looked like so much fun. They went from toy to toy to explore.
We can't wait to participate in the next Secret Paws. We always have a bundle of fun doing the paws packages and sending out care packages to the bunnies!

This is our 100th posting! Wow!

I Know and You Know We Are Not Allowed Up Here

Sebastian and Yaffa Kitty know full well that they are not allowed on the dining room table, however, they like to test us. Once in awhile I'll catch them, just hanging out, sitting there on the table top, acting as if they are doing nothing wrong. But, I usually give them one look, and they look back at me knowing that they've gotten away with something.

We are so excited here at Ilovecatnip, since we've surpassed the 10,000 visitor mark. We are so thrilled!

Finally, Secret Paws Package Sent!

Sebastian and Yaffa are making sure that I box up the Secret Paws package correctly. They helped me pack the box, though there was one toy they almost wanted to keep. It's this burlap bag with catnip inside, which they love! The cats also helped me write a note to our secret paws friend. I was delayed with sending it this time, between the holidays and working so hard. But Yaffa and Sebastian did not let me forget. Oh, and they received their secret paws gift from Max the cat. Thanks Max! We will be posting pictures soon of the cool package that Max sent. They love the toys! Especially the furry ones.

If only I could be a cat.

I saw Yaffa kitty just lounging around one day on the bed, being a very sleepy nappy cat. She did not have a care in the world, but to lie on her back, hoping to get her tummy rubbed. It was in the middle of the afternoon, and I couldn't help but think, what a life. If only I could be a cat!

I will sit where ever I want!

This morning as I was getting ready for work, I saw Sebastian Kitty sitting on top of the clothes hamper. He looked so cute, perched high above the floor. Now, if only I could teach him how to do laundry, wouldn't that be a great trick!

Learning to be a lap cat

Little Sebastian Kitty is learning how to be a lap kitty. He likes to jump on Kyle's lap and take a nap. When we are sitting on the couch watching tv, he jumps on the lap to hang out with us. He especially likes it when his belly is rubbed too. He is such a sweet cat.

Who said I wasn't allowed up here?

Since moving into the new apartment, Sebastian has found some interesting places to hang out. This is one of his new favorite spots. However, it's getting really cold and the radiator has been on, so I don't think he'll like sitting up there anymore.

Still unpacking things from the move. When will this madness stop. So many boxes. Oh my! But I know someone who loves it because he gets to explore and play with the boxes. Peek a boo!

Sebastian kitty is really enjoying the new apartment. There is a lot more space for him to run around, and play with mommy Yaffa. And a whole lot of other places to hide and explore. He especially likes the new window sill. It is by far one of his best places to take a nap, and to check out the pigeons of Brooklyn. He so wants to jump outside and squash one, but we don't let him since we live on the 3rd floor. He always gives us those cute sad eyes, come on, please let me out and "play" with those mean birds that poop all over our window sill.

New Home

I feel terrible, I haven't been able to post any blog entries lately. The cats have been awfully mad at me. However, we've been busy moving into our new home and I haven't had much time, nor any access to Internet. It's a long story, but damn Verizon wireless is all I need to say. Here are a few pictures of Sebastian making himself at home on our makeshift bed. We haven't moved in all of our furniture yet, thus the mattress on the floor. Doesn't he look so cute?
