Twins

When we went up to visit the family farm, cousin Rocky, the Jack Russell Terrier was visiting too. Here he is being a "twin" to the farm cat Mincoda. They love each other so much, that they even sleep in the same position. This is way to adorable!

Mouse toys

Dante's favorite toy are mice that are furry and look like real mice. Dante destroys them. When we buy the mice they come two in this nice package.

Look how cute they are! Furry cute.

This however is the mice AFTER Dante destroys it! He bites off all his fur and is left with just the inside. Looks pretty pathetic huh? Dante is very very good and hunting and destroying, as you can see!

Mom bean is watching the Yankees play the Angels right now! We're excited about this game, Let's go Yankees!

Happy Anniversary

This month, dad bean and I had our 1 year anniversary and to celebrate we made a very tasty seafood dinner. We decided to save money and cook at home and enjoy making a scrumptious meal. Look at what we ate!
The cats were circling us when they saw these.
We made our own sushi rolls. These were eel avocado rolls and oyster avocado rolls.
Everything was so delicious!

Back to the Farm Photos - Part 3

Here are some more photos from the farm. A new addition this year were some baby goats! They were born a few months ago. Aren't they sweet?? We loved feeding the goats. They eat right out of your hand if you let them. And boy, these baby goats were just adorable. They love to eat any greens, and grass and especially hay.

The farm is pretty close to Canada, and therefore a lot of the food up there has a Canadian flare. When we were out in Ogdensburg one day shopping, we went to a diner for coffee and a snack. We ordered "poutine", which in Canada is usually french fries with gravy and cheese curd on top. This poutine we order was a little different, tater tots with gravy and melted cheese. We've never eaten this before, and boy was it good!

World's Best Cat Litter!! Literally!

We are getting the coolest mail lately! We received in the mail a package of the World's Best Cat Litter! Thanks Drew!!

We've been using it for the past couple of days and the cats love the litter. So do us humans. It clumps right away so it's very easy to clean. What we like about the litter is that it is 100% natural, it's made from whole-kernel corn. How cool is that, a litter that is environmentally safe! This makes it very safe for our kitties. And that means it is also flushable, we like that idea! Here is their website. http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/ Look what came inside the box! A bag of litter, a mat for the litter box to sit on, and a nice card from Drew.

Sebastian and Yaffa liked the mat right away. They sat on it and wouldn't budge! Hahaha
They also love the litter! Yaffa is picky with litter boxes, she doesn't like the smell of a dirty box. However, this litter reduces litter smells considerably! So that makes Yaffa happy!

We're still looking for a kitty, doggie, bunny or hamster who might want to play Paw-It-Forward with us. (See our last blog posting) It's so much FUN! Don't you want to play with us?

Here are the guidelines for Paw It Forward:

The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and 'paw it forward' in their own way. This is how it works...I am going to send something to the FIRST blog owner who wants to take part. In turn you will then post about this on your blog, link back to me, then send something to the first person who signs up to play along through your blog. There are no cost restraints, BUT don't go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. No biggie, just a gift that will make the person smile; maybe something unique from where you live? And, remember that kindness does not have to involve money, there are untold ways to help others every single day, everywhere you go- just look around. Please post us a comment letting me know that you want to play!

Paw-It-Forward

We got the most AH-Mazing package in the mail yesterday from the beans, kitties and fish at Forty Paws. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU to Jenny, Annie, Gatsbi, Dorfington Fish Stanley, G.T., Obi, Reno, Smokey, Sally and Orinch

We played "Paw-It-Forward" with them and they sent us the most awesome package. Here is a link from their Paw-It-Forward posting on their blog.

In the package we received, yummy treats, catnip mice, catnip toys, a catnip cigar and best of all our very own HAMMOCK!!
Here is Yaffa investigating all the presents!

Then she honed in on the catnip cigar. She loved it! We never had one at this house before! She jumped on top of it and hugged it. LOL

We took the goodies off the Hammock and here is Sebastian and Yaffa both checking it out. We loveeeee the animal print on the fabric. So cool! We saw on Forty Paws blog that they sell these cool ham-micks. Check it out on Forty Paws, you should definitely get your own. We guarantee that you kitties will adore it too!

Then Sebastian jumps on top of the hammock and rolls around. He was so happy!! All the cats really love the hammock. They have been taking turns napping on top of it. Very comfortable!

Dante's favorite toys of all time are mice toys. He became so excited when he saw the mice Forty Paws gave us. Even better, it had catnip in the mouse!!

Here is a great photo of Sebastian loving the catnip cigar. He was so all over it!

Thank you so much FORTY PAWS! We really enjoyed our package. NOW it's our TURN. YEAH!!! Who wants to play with us?

More Farm Photos

Below please find more photos from our vacation to the family farm. We had a lot of questions from our last posting. We were asked how old this farm is. The farm house is over 160 years old, but when my husband's family bought the property 4 years ago, it was in bad shape. My husband's daddy gutted the farm house and renovated it. So the most of the framing and some of the foundation is original but everything else in the house have been renovated to meet modern standards. However, they are keeping the design style of the house. It's going to remain country in style. Another question we received was if Grace, the horse likes cats. There is a farm cat on the property, her name is Mincoda. Mincoda likes to hang out in the barn to catch mice and keep Grace company. Grace doesn't mind Mincoda being around her. They are friends.

What's neat about the town is that they have a lot of neighbors who are Amish. Check out the road sign we saw on our drive up to the farm.

We also saw these big birds! Ducks!!!!! On the farm, they raise many animals, among them are ducks. These are all female ducks, that sometimes lay eggs. What's neat about these ducks is that they don't Quack! Imagine, a duck that doesn't Quack! Aren't they cute?

Our 500th Post!! - Visiting the Family Farm Again

This is our 500th post! We've noticed around the cat / dog blogosphere that a lot of blogs are celebrating their 500th post. How exciting for us that we too have reached the big 5 0 0. To celebrate, we are going to blog about our fun trip to the North Country.

Every year, we travel over 300 miles north to visit the family farm. We try to go twice a year, but it's a long trek. From where we live in Brooklyn, it's about a 8 hour drive. The farm is in the town of De Peyster, NY. There are so many things to do on the family farm and we always have lots of fun when we visit. One of our favorite things to do is hang out with Grace, a Belgian horse. Grace has great personality. She is friendly and affectionate and loves treats, like apples, carrots and peppermint candy. Isn't she beautiful? We have lots of pictures from the farm, we'll share more in the next post.

I love daddy's sneakers!

Sebastian is known for having funny spots to take a nap. On top of boxes, on top of duffle bags, on top of purses, on top of towels, on top of laundry, on top of the bicycle tires. The other day I found him sleeping on top of daddy's dirty sneakers. He loves everything dad bean. He's very much dad's kitty. I guess he likes dad bean's smells. Here he is guarding the sneaker as if he is saying "mine, mine, mine."

More Apple Picking Photos!

As promised, here are more photos from our apple picking adventure. This orchard also grows grapes. And they were so sweet and delicious. These are concord grapes, like the kind you use to make jelly. So sweet and delicious!
On the farm there was also a giant corn maze. It was really fun and kinda scary because the corn was taller than we were so you couldn't see over it. It took us a good 10 minutes to find our way out since it had some dead ends. I love fall!!

Apple Picking Adventure

Every fall we have an awesome tradition. We go apple picking! Last weekend we went apple picking in upstate NY. We went to Dubois Farms in Highland. It's a great family run farm, where you can go and pick your own apples, peaches, grapes, pumpkins and pears. They also have farm animals that roam around the property. Check out what we saw eating the apple leaves!! So sweet. He was standing on his tippy toes to reach the yummy leaves.

Our friend's daughter was running with the goats. She really loved them and they were so friendly and gentle with all the little ones.

The farm is quite large, and there are so many things to do. Among them is a pumpkin patch, how cool is this? You can go and pick your own. This totally reminds me of Charlie Brown's the Great Pumpkin cartoon. I have more pictures from our apple picking adventure, will post later this week.

Serene Little Kitty

Dante can be a serene little kitty when he wants to be. Here he is enjoying some time on the couch with the warm sun rays. He loves to "sun tan". Now, if only he can be this peaceful when he's around the other cats.

Funny Yaffa Lap Kitty

Everytime I see this photo it makes me smile. Yaffa isn't much of a lap kitty. It's always on her terms. Nor is she really that affectionate towards Me, Mombean. She is a Dadbean cat all the way. However, once in awhile, when Yaffa feels very cuddly, she will jump on my lap and curl up next to me. This particular day, she was more than relaxed. Look how cute her arm is stretched out over my leg. ;)
