Brooklyn Bridge and Birthday Fun

What an amazing spring day. It was a beautiful sunny day, and also my birthday. I had never walked across the Brooklyn Bridge before. So that was my birthday wish, to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan. Here are some photos from the walk across. I was so happy with the way the photos came out. The walk across was amazing! The only downside was that it was super crowded and that almost made it not enjoyable. But with the views, it still was pretty amazing. Can't wait to do it again.

Meet Our Cousin Nikki

This is our cousin Nikki. She is a pure bred golden retriever and lives with our grandma and grandpa. Even though Nikki is about 5 years old, she still acts like a puppy. She also thinks she's a tiny dog, because she likes to jump on your lap even though she's probably 80 or so pounds. She is the sweetest dog, and loves attention. She has lots of energy, and loves to go on walks. She is the friendliest dog we know.

Someone had a party alright!

The other day I heard some rustling noises. I didn't think anything of it, until I walked into the room and saw this. Then I saw Sebastian run under the bed. I guess he had a party with the Party Mix treats. Bad kitty!

Lilacs, smells like Spring

A very warm 81F today and sunny. It gets warmer every day now in New York City. Even though it is Spring, it's starting to feel like Summer. People all around the city in their shorts and skirts, and sitting outside eating al fresco. That's when you know Summer is here, its all the sidewalk dining.

One thing I absolutely love about the warm weather is all the amazing flowers in bloom. I got some Lilacs, one of my favorite flowers for the house. It smells incredible! If Spring had a smell, for me, it would be the scent of Lilacs.

Here comes the sun - dadadadee

Today was an absolutely beautiful spring day. PERFECT spring weather, 70 degree day. The sun was beaming into the living room. I put a pillow on the floor, and Dante sat on it to enjoy the sunbeam. Smart kitty. Dante is still as bad as ever, but every day, he gets a little better. He still bites us when he gets excited, we are trying to teach him better.

But doesn't he just look precious on the pillow soaking up the sun. It's almost hard to believe this gentle looking kitty can be such a bad biter!!

My Toy!

Yaffa has never really been one for toys but I captured this photo some time ago of her sleeping next to one of the toy mousies. Look how happy she looks. She's even smiling. She must be dreaming about chasing the mouse. Doesn't she look extremely content?

Our Cousin Vinnie

Meet our cousin Vinnie. He lives in upstate NY and is the sweetest cat. He's super friendly and loves a good belly rub. Vinnie is a very big mancat, tipping the scales at 20 pounds. His previous owner spoiled him and thus the weight gain. But now he's in a new household and is getting a lot more exercise so hopefully he'll start shedding some of that weight. We think he's the most handsome ginger cat we've ever seen. His coat is a light, light orange. I've never seen a ginger cat with a coat so light. Gorgeous.

Live Long and Prosper

Today is another rainy gloomy day here in the big city. Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day, perfect spring day. To brighten up the day, I thought I'd post this lovely caprese salad we like to eat on the hot days of summer. It's a simple salad to make, and yet tastes delicious and makes a great impression. Only 6 ingredients. Fresh mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Delightful!!

Oh, and dad bean and I went to see Star Trek yesterday in the movie theaters. Oh My Goodness, it was soooo amazing. The best Star Trek movie ever! For all those trekkie fans out there, it's one not to be missed. It is very much a modern take on the old series, but a fun insight on how the Enterprise crew came to be.

A Belated Thank You

Dante says I've been a lazy mommy, because I never posted a thank you to Toeshee for the nice thank you card and treats that came in the mail. Here is Toeshee's blog. Toeshee sent this package as a thank you for his birthday present. Awww shucks, how cute!

Mom: Dante, I wasn't lazy, I've been awfully busy these last few months, with buying the house, and my wallet being stolen, and family visiting.

We didn't want to forget to thank Toeshee and his mombean Lorianna for the very thoughtful party mix treats and thank you card. It was such a nice surprise!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

In past years, we've always had a party for Cinco de Mayo. But, we are currently between houses and living amongst boxes, so no parties for us. (Can't wait to move into the new house) So, I dug up some old photos from previous yummy mexican meals. Tacos, home made guacamole, pico de gallo, and corn salsa! Delicious!! Vive la Mexico!
