I had such a frustrating day yesterday on the phone fighting with my insurance company. HIP NY really set me over the edge when they tried to charge me $150 for generic prescription when the brand name was $90. I called to ask why they weren't covering the generic and the rep had no real good answer. How frustrating! The most annoying thing however is that there is apparently a new law in New York State that says that pharmacies are required to give you the generic version of medicine if there is one available, regardless if your insurance covers the generic. Isn't that a silly law? They must give it to you, even if it costs you more than brand name. How is that a good idea? I asked the pharmacy to not give me the generic but they said they weren't allowed to give me the brand name. I asked them why since my prescription was written for brand name and they said that the doctor needs to put "DAW" - "Dispense As Written" on the form in order for only brand name be fulfilled. Usually generic saves people money, but not with backwards HIP NY insurance. When I spoke to HIP they said, go back to the pharmacy and insist on the brand name. I said to her, if that worked the first time, do you think I'd be calling HIP customer service? Gee whiz! I ended up slamming the phone on the lady and calling my doctor to call the pharmacy. US Healthcare, its such a sham!!
The only good news that came across my desk yesterday is this freebie from Greenies.
Our cats LOVE Greenies so much. We just received an email from the company letting us know that there is a new free sample to promote their new GREENIES® PILL POCKETS® treats. These treats are so cool, on the website it says "they have a built-in pocket that’s perfect for hiding a pill or liquid medication, and how they are the innovative way to give your pet his daily dose of medicine." We are so excited by these new treats that we wanted to share it with all of our bloggie friends.
Sign up for a free sample here.
