Ahhh Air Conditioning!!

It's been so incredibly hot and humid here lately. The heat is really unbearable. It's 87 degrees today, with the humidity really climbing. Oh my hot! Poor kitties have been way hot too. We have the ceiling fans on constantly. But what the kitties really love is A-I-R CONDITIONING. Whenever its on, Sebastian kitty jumps up on the bed and sits right in front of it. He really likes the cold air hitting his furry face. What a funny kitty he is! Funny, but very smart!

Sebastian (hearts) Greenies!!

Daddy's Little Helper

Dad bean bought new "plants" for the fishy tank. It's not "real" plants. For the last year, we had real plants in the fish tank, but the plants were really hard to keep healthy because the fish would really do a number on them. We still have fresh water plants in the tank, but dad bean thought he add in some plastic "plants" to replace the dying plants, so the fish wouldn't notice the difference. Look who was our helper in picking out the plants. What a good helper we have, he also want to put the plants in the tank, but... we said sorry Kitty, you are not allowed to put your paws in the tank itself. "Why not?" little kitty said.

Another Store Kitty

In Brooklyn, it seems like every other storefront has a store kitty. This store kitty we saw at a 99 cent store. This photo was taken on a hot day. And this kitty was very hot and was taking a nap on the floor. He looked really lethargic from the heat but a happy store kitty and well fed.

It was a gigantic moth, although it doesn't look like that in the photo. But it was really big. Sebastian spent like 10 minutes playing with the moth without killing it. He would put his paw on it, then let it go, then put his paw on it. I didn't let him play with it too long, because I know that some bugs are dangerous to little kitties. I must confess, I did kill the moth afterwards. It was so gross. And it freaked me out being in the house. I usually catch bugs alive and throw it outside the window, but this one had big wings, and was gross, and I had a hard time catching it. So I squished it. :(

Grace's Kisses

Sweet, sweet Grace loves her dad bean (Kyle's Dad), because he takes real good care of her. Whenever he is near her barn, she gives him kisses. She also knows that he hides peppermint treats in his pockets of his vest. So she likes to look in his pockets for the candy. Once in awhile she finds a peppermint, which makes her very happy. I really love Grace's eyelashes. They are so pretty, can you see it in the first photo?

Mincoda

This is our cousin Mincoda. Mincoda lives on the family farm. She is a worker kitty. She guards the farm and chases away any unwanted pests and looks after the hens and roosters. Mincoda has no interest in chasing the chickens. She is really good at chasing away the mice who try to steal the farm animals food. Mincoda is the cutest kitty. She loves bean attention. She loves to be hugged and kissed. We gave her lots of those!

Hey Chicks

When we were at the farm, these chicks and ducklings just hatched about a week and 1/2 prior. How cute are they? The eggs were in an incubator until they hatched. The chicks that are hens will grow up to be very good egg layers. They are so soft its amazing. Its because they don't have feathers yet. I really wanted to take one home to Brooklyn. But that is not allowed unfortunately. :(

Amish Kitty: Working Kitty Series

When we were upstate visiting the farm, we visited the surrounding towns. In Ogdensburg, NY there is this cute Amish country store. The store sold all kinds of products made by the Amish. Here is a kitty we saw living and working in the store. When I took this photo, the kitty was lounging on top of this gorgeous Amish dresser drawer. Behind the kitty you can see an Amish quilt. These quilts were absolutely gorgeous. Very beautiful designs. These photos are part of our Working Kitty Series. We will post photos of kitties who are part of the work force. I hope this kitty gets paid well!

Sebastian's New Pillow

Sebastian loves weird things as pillows. He's been known to use a pile of magazines for a pillow. He's also has used sneakers as pillows. But this one takes the cake. The leg of our office chair. He must like the cold metal against his fur. He's so silly.

Yaffa Belly

Yesterday, I found Yaffa napping like this on the bed. Her belly all exposed. It took all my might not to give her a belly rub. She doesn't tolerate belly rubs at all!! And the minute I pat her there, she'll wake up and run away. So instead of disturbing little kitty's sleep, I decided to take a photo instead. But how cute is she, would you be able to resist?!?!

Street Doodle

Summer it seems is in full bloom here in the city. It feels so nice to have the sun out and everyone just seems like they are in the best mood. People outside having lunch at the park, and at sidewalk cafes. The beginning of summer is great in New York City. Give it a month, and it'll start to get really hot and muggy and unbearable. But for now, it's just started to warm up and it's really great that the weather is fantastic.

I was walking the long way home one day, enjoying the weather, when this doodle stopped me in my tracks. It was the cutest chalk drawing of a kitty cat!! I had to stop and take a photo of it. It made me smile.

On another note, this weekend as part of my birthday celebration we went to see one of the summer blockbusters, Indiana Jones. I have been a huge fan of the Indiana Jones series ever since I was a kid. However, I left the theater a bit disappointed in the movie. It was a bit of a let down, and not as clever as the first 3 movies in the series. What do you guys think? Did you like the movie?

Cock-a-Doodle-Doo

Sorry everyone for the delay in the posting. With my birthday this weekend, we were so busy with a flurry of activities. I'll post those pictures another time! Here is the answer to the Guess the farm animal. It's a Rooster & two Hens!! These chickens are free-range chickens and organic. They are allowed to roam the farm as they please, and also they eat organic corn and grain. These chickens are super healthy, and each chicken on average lays one egg everyday. I had so much fun collecting eggs everyday. There were usually 1 dozen laid eggs a day. What I thought was so neat is that some chickens lay brown eggs, and some lay white eggs. There are actually no nutritional difference between the eggs even though they are different colors. However, where we live, they always sell brown eggs for more money, even though brown eggs doesn't mean it's more healthy. Its all a marketing ploy. I never knew that before, how annoying!
